Upgrading Your Operating System: From Disconnected Stress to Heart-Brain Coherence

Reclaiming the Soma

Mind-body or somatic coaching is a holistic, life-affirming emergent process that organizes a person’s emotional, social, and spiritual commitments toward fulfillment and embodiment.

Unlike traditional coaching which often focuses on cognitive mindset shifts, somatic coaching is rooted in the concept of the Soma, defined as the living organism in its wholeness. This approach seeks to bridge the Western cultural fracture that has historically isolated physiology from psychology, treating the body not as a machine but as the literal shape of one’s experience.

Core Principles and Methodology

The primary goal of this work is embodied transformation, which is measured by the ability to act aligned with your values even under the same old pressures.

This requires three essential pillars:

  1. somatic awareness -sensing aliveness from the inside out
  2. somatic practices – purposeful repetition to build new habits
  3. somatic opening – uprooting deep-seated protective patterns stored in the tissues

Why Somatic Coaching Matters

This work is essential because humans are creatures of habit. Repetition is the key to creating sustainable change: 300 repetitions develop muscle memory, while 3000 repetitions are required for a skill to become truly embodied.

This practice allows individuals to:
  • Act Congruently: Align physical presence with verbal commitments.
  • Navigate Pressure: Maintain a regulated state and access choice even during high-stress situations.
  • Heal Social Wounds: Address the systemic forces and wounds that are embodied in our tissues.
  • Embrace Aliveness: Join the organic process of “life moving toward life” and fulfill evolutionary longings.

The somatic practice library also includes Elemental Alchemy Qigong videos, which offer movement-based forms to further refine energy flows and support the embodiment of health and vitality.

The Cycle of Change

Transformation follows an organic Cycle of Change, which includes embodied awareness (tracking sensations), sensing and feeling (dipping into the experience), expressing and articulating (externalizing the sensation through sound or movement), meaning-making (letting the body provide insight), and finally taking action in the world.

Sessions are experiential.

We work with posture, breath, voice, sensation, narrative, and relational dynamics.

You will not only think differently.

You will inhabit yourself differently. This is the promise of somatic coaching in action.

A Deeper Layer of the Work

While grounded in somatic science and leadership development, this work also honors a deeper dimension.

Across cultures and lineages, initiation into mature leadership required:

  • Contact with one’s inner ground

  • Reconciliation with shadow and avoidance

  • Embodiment of responsibility

  • Integration of power with integrity

Modern life rarely provides this threshold.

This container does.

Not theatrically. Not symbolically alone.
But through embodied practice, disciplined reflection, and relational accountability.

Who This Is For

This coaching is for leader, entrepreneurs, action takers:

  • You carry responsibility at work and at home, but feel like a “performing body” – using will and grit to get results while your “feeling self” remains sidelined.
  • You feel capable but stretched. You have mental insights into your stress, but under pressure, your oldest reactive habits still take the wheel.
  • You want to live with steadiness, not tension. You are tired of “neck-up” living and are ready to inhabit the Soma – your self in wholeness.
  • You know something needs to shift. You don’t need fixing; you need the capacity to act aligned with your values even under the same old pressures.

It is not for those seeking quick performance hacks or motivational intensity. Men’s Health Coaching is at the heart of this transformative work.

It is for those ready to cultivate embodied transformation. For men across the country, this is Men’s Health New Zealand at its most essential level.

What Changes Over 90 Days

This is designed to move you from cognitive insight to embodied transformation. By the end of this process, people commonly experience:
  • Aligned Action Under Pressure: The ability to act and relate in ways that are congruent with your vision and values, even when facing the same old pressures that used to trigger reactive habits.
  • Quicker Stress Recalibration: A nervous system trained for neuroceptive safety, allowing you to recalibrate both physiologically and psychologically following acute stress rather than staying on high alert.
  • Increased Somatic Bandwidth: An expanded capacity to stay anchored in your felt experience -sensing aliveness from the inside out—which allows you to hold complex emotions without collapsing or dissociating.
  • Restored Physical Vitality: Measurable reductions in physical stress symptoms, including better sleep, increased energy (vitality), and a buoyancy of spirit.
  • Congruent Communication: A shift from defensive story-telling to clear, honest communication using I-Statements, ensuring your verbal commitments are physically supported by your presence.
  • Enhanced Cognitive Clarity: Improved focus and working memory as the body moves out of survival mode and into a state of heart-rhythm coherence.
  • Sustainable Momentum: Capturing “Big Mo” – the force of momentum where small, smart choices completed consistently over 90 days create a radical difference in your leadership and life.

The 90-Day Somatic Coaching Alliance

This is not open-ended self-exploration. It is a clear and grounded process to help you bridge the gap between your values and your actions.

Phase 1: CENTER – Establish Internal Stability
Build nervous system stability and embodied awareness. Move from witnessing your stress to fully sensing aliveness from the inside out.
  • Centering Practice: Master the 4 Directions to stay anchored.
  • Breath & Fluidity: Shift from rigidity to your natural fluid state.

Phase 2: OPEN – Restore Alignment & Integrity
Identify and unwind conditioned tendencies—the deep-seated protective patterns stored in your tissues that no longer serve your future.
  • Somatic Opening: Uproot the armoring that blocks your expression.
  • Boundary Clarity: Develop the embodied skill of saying “no” from center.

Phase 3: EMBODY – Purposeful Action

Meet Dylan Kaufman - Health Wellness Coach & Engineer

Kia ora, I’m Dylan – a Somatic Life Coach and Structural Engineer based in Northland.

I came to this work through engineering. I was trained to think in load paths and stress tolerances. What I started noticing was that people operate the same way – we carry load, but rarely assess capacity.

That insight changed how I work with people.
I discovered the power of somatic and holistic practices. They’ve kept me grounded, clear, and alive — and now I guide others to cultivate that same steadiness and vitality.

As a Certified Mind-Body Coach, I integrate embodied practice with practical leadership development. I help men reconnect with their body’s intelligence, restore sustainable energy, and lead from clarity and purpose rather than pressure.

My work is rooted in coherence – expressed through presence, discernment, vitality, and regeneration. Through somatic practice and embodied inquiry, I support men to move from internal tension and overdrive into grounded, aligned leadership.

This coaching is an invitation to experience embodied leadership in your own life – not as an idea, but as a lived capacity.

Reconnect with what matters — and lead from that place.

Your body is your leadership tool. When you train your nervous system, focus and clarity follow naturally.

Through body-based coaching, you’ll learn how to regulate stress, restore energy, and align your actions with purpose – so you can lead yourself and others with grounded confidence. As a dedicated health and wellness coach, this is the foundation of my approach.

Got Questions?

Somatic coaching goes beyond the mind. While traditional coaching focuses on goals and mindset, and therapy often works with the past, somatic coaching includes the body’s wisdom as a powerful guide. This approach helps you release tension, shift old patterns, and access deeper clarity and vitality. It’s future-focused, practical, and embodied.

Not at all. Coaching with me is tailored to where you are. You don’t need prior experience in movement, mindfulness, or anything “spiritual.” All that’s required is a willingness to show up, be curious, and explore new ways of connecting with yourself.

While this coaching has helped many men navigate stress, leadership, and life transitions, the embodied framework supports anyone who resonates with this approach.

Centering is the foundational practice of coming back to a state of being present, open, connected, and on purpose.
We centering through four specific dimensions:
  • Length: Aligning vertically to connect “heaven” (vision) and “earth” (action), centering one’s inherent dignity.
  • Width: Expanding side-to-side to inhabit the relational and communal space, moving from “me” to “we”.
  • Depth: Settle back into the posterior body to access history, ancestry, and the internal tissues, while maintaining a front-facing focus on the future.
  • Purpose: Organizing one’s entire nervous system around a calling or core commitment.

Why Somatic Centering Matters

Centering is essential because it facilitates embodied transformation, which is the ability to act aligned with one’s values even under the same old pressures. There are several reasons why this matters:
  1. Insight vs. Embodiment: Cognitive insight alone rarely changes behavior; research suggests it takes 300 repetitions of a practice for muscle memory and 3000 repetitions for a skill to become truly embodied.
  2. Safety and Regulation: Centering supports neuroception, the body’s automatic scan for safety. By centering, a person can move out of a “freeze” or “reactive” state and into a regulated state that allows for social connection and learning.
  3. Dignity and Resilience: It allows individuals to reclaim their inherent dignity and vulnerability, turning them into sources of strength rather than weaknesses to be managed
  4. Agency: The more aware and centered a person is, the more agency and choice they have in how they respond to life’s challenges.

If you’re feeling stressed, disconnected, or stuck – and you’re ready to find a more grounded, embodied way forward – this coaching is likely a fit. The best way to know is to try a free connection call and see how it feels.

This is a relaxed 30-minute call where we explore your challenges, goals, and whether coaching with me feels like the right support for you. There’s no pressure – just a chance to connect and get clarity.
