This framework aims to provide embodied education with practical strategies to guide the change process. Intentional Lifestyle Pillars aim to assist us to live our highest potential with radiant health and in harmony with nature.

Happiness

Wholesome – Meaningful – Resonance

True happiness is not momentary gratification but the natural outcome of a life well lived. An intentional lifestyle may enhance positive feelings and thoughts, and over time dissolve stored inner negativity and create a more balanced mindset. Holistic body-mind practices can help to calm the mind and support internal connection and self compassion. By applying methods to relieve stress you can restore inner harmony and improve mental health. When the mind, brain and body are aligned in connected states, happiness and a flourishing life may naturally arise.

When your lifestyle does not fit with your core values and doesn’t fulfill you, it is likely you become more stressed and mental-emotional health may decline. Do you know what makes you happy? Happiness is an essential feature of lasting health and genuine well-being.

Mind-Body Coaching is about transforming our embodiment to be aligned with what we care about, our core values, and purpose so that we can be, act, and relate from this place. Our behaviour, habits and health are linked to our beliefs and state of mind. With intentional lifestyle and Mind-Body Coaching we can undertake introspective study and create goals with actionable steps to discover what makes you truly happy. By working together we can apply mind-body tools, practical neuroscience and the science of positive psychology to change from the inside out.

Key Recommendations:

  • Feel and identify what makes you truly happy.
  • Identify your core values and strengths, then try to incorporate them into your lifestyle and emphasise their expression.
  • Create daily rituals with practices to calm your mind and listen to your innermost self, so that your mind, body and brain are aligned in connected states

Movement

Mindful – Mobilising – Functional

Intelligent physical movement practices, combined with a natural breath and calm nervous system, works to support the cells to carry more oxygen, improve blood circulation, organ function and internal movement of energy.

Meditative movements, such as yoga and qigong, may help to quiet the mind and get in touch with your body’s wisdom, your internal organs, and natural energy. Many movements which lead from the center of the body work to massage our organs and cultivate internal energy often called qi or prana. As you build cellular connection you can start releasing tension and deep layers of stress. By working in, with mind-body tools you can balance your hormones, improve body function, and generate emotional stability and mental clarity.

Somatic practices which stimulate the vagus nerve can contribute to better mental health and emotional regulation by developing healthy vagal tone. The vagus nerve is the longest cranial nerve in the human body. Approximately 80% of that nerve is afferent, which means its sending signals of information from the internal organs, such as the gut, liver, heart, and lungs to the brain. Stimulating the vagus nerve activates the parasympathetic nervous system, and by developing a higher vagal tone your body can relax faster after stress.

Key Recommendations:

  • Incorporate a movement practice into your daily routine for 30 – 90min daily.
  • Learn physical movements to mobilise internal energy, release unprocessed stress, or enhance your state of being.
  • Have moments of listening to your body’s wisdom, internal organs, and natural energy throughout the day and follow embodied impulses towards expression, mobilisation, and transformation.

Diet

Nourishment – Natural – Colourful

Diet is the foundation for well-being. Food and drink affect our energy levels and our body’s biochemistry, which in turn influences our emotions and mental health. When a nutrient-rich diet is combined with good internal organ function and a well functioning digestive system, the body can better absorb the nutrients from good quality food.

The gut microbiome is crucial for your health. The gut is commonly referred to as the second brain. Research has shown that the balance of bacteria in the gut micobiome impacts brain function by influencing the vagus nerve and affecting your whole body. This may affect your emotions and the way your brain processes information from your senses. A healthy gut microbiome aids in the digestion of foods, the absorption of nutrients, the functioning of your immune system, and the balance of your hormones.

Key Recommendations:

  • Ensure you have a nutrient-rich diet every day with primarily natural, unprocessed foods. Try to eat a natural food that resembles each of the different colours of the rainbow each day.
  • Adequate hydrate yourself throughout the day. Check your bodyweight measured in kg. Divide your weight by 30, and this is how many litres you should approximately drink each day. E.g. 70kg = 2.3 L of fluid.
  • Utilise supplements, superfoods and herbal medicine to improve your intake of vitamins and minerals. For supplementation you may consider taking a multi-vitamin, an immune protection supplement, and/or a probiotic supplement daily. For superfoods you may like to consider maca powder, cacao paste, mushroom powders, and greens powder. For herbal medicines you may like to consider tulsi / holy basil, ashwagandha, or chamomile teas or medicinal tinctures.

Quiet

Presence – Attunement – Relationship

Quietening the mind supports embodied presence, energy management and recovery. Creating space to relax the body-mind calms the nervous system and reduces stress. By stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system, we induce the relaxation response and shift towards states of ease and harmony. This helps us to stay calm, focused and energised throughout the day and available to our innermost self. This may start releasing the first layers of stress and tension stored in the body-mind. Relaxation of the body, and the slowing down of the brain waves can support deeper, more restorative sleep.

Cultivating stillness in the mind can help you to attune to reality as it is. As you strengthen your relationship to your self and develop internal connection, you can provide compassionate care for the cells in your body. By giving every cell in your body a safe, warm and loving home, that loving environment can then naturally extend to the outside world. Shifting our center of attention from the thinking, conceptual mind to deep inner stillness also helps us to get in touch with the inner wisdom of our body, allowing us to feel and listen to our intuition, so that we can make skillful actions with compassion and pragmatic wisdom.

Key Recommendations:

  • Establish yourself in the present in order to touch the wonders of life that are available. Prioritise mindfulness to calm your mind and inhabit your body throughout the day.
  • Create moments of quiet time in your day for self-regulation, reflection and restoration. I recommend sitting meditation for 20 – 60 minutes daily in the morning and evening, and short 5 min breaks with mindfulness throughout the day.
  • Notice which environments allow you feel safe and able to relax your body and nervous system.

Personal Plan

To live with intention is to live deliberately. When we prioritise what is of greatest meaning to us with integrity, we cultivate an internal state of love, wisdom, and alignment with our innermost self. Being the master of yourself yields great power, purpose, and responsibility. Self-sovereignty is your divine right and not to be given away or compromised.
